Believe

I decided to brighten things up a bit with a new masthead and I just have to say, it already makes me feel happy to look at it. Thank you so much for all of the compliments on it. I’ve gone back to my original Scale Junkie logo with some cheerful floral thrown in for fun. I’m tempted to just change the date to Spring 2008 and keep this one for a few months. For those of you who asked, I use a program called Adobe InDesign to create my mastheads.

You’ll notice the bold word BELIEVE in the masthead and that’s because its a word that has a special meaning. From the start of this journey, Ken has been telling me how much he believes in me and that I need to believe in myself. We don’t really exchange a lot of Christmas gifts but we sometimes give each other a few small things. One of the things he gave me this year was a wooden letter cut out sign with the word BELIEVE. When he gave it to me he said “I believe in you and I want you to always remember to believe in yourself too.” So we put it by my computer where I do my workouts so I'll look at it often and remember to BELIEVE in ME!

I want to come up with more ways to remind me to believe and when I do I'll share them here with you.. It’s just something small but so powerful.

We all need to believe in ourselves. We all need reminders to believe! Do you believe in yourself?

  1. The masthead is beautiful! Is it a free program?

I'm an emotional wreck today (part detox, part tragedy, part frustration), so your post made me cry. The men in our lives are quite something, aren't they? I really think that the security I have in my relationship is pivotal in my ability to allow myself to lose weight.

I was thinking yesterday that I'd like an armband like the yellow Live Strong bands, to remind me every day to believe in myself and make the good choices. I suppose a Live Strong band would actually work for that... I wonder where one buys them?

  2. I do love your masthead for sure!

I totally believe in you too! That was such a thoughtful gift from Ken! I can't wait to hear all of your other ideas!

oh.. And my dog ran away from me yesterday. I ran and ran and ran after her through about 8 different back yards. That dog is NEVER EVER allowed off leash! But, the bright side is that after all that sprinting, I had no ill effects in my mouth! YAY FOR TODAY!

  3. What a great gift and reminder for yourself! I don't always believe in myself, particularly in regards to this weight loss stuff. I'm really having a hard time with it right now, but I'm determined to push through! Thanks for this post to remind us all we CAN and WILL do this!

  6. That issue of believing in myself is a tough one. When I lost my weight the first time four years ago, I went through a tremendous sea change and believed that I could do ANYTHING I set my mind to. It was incredilby empowering!

Then I gained the weight back last year and have lost that feeling - in most areas of my life. My self-confidence is pretty low these days.

Thanks for the thought-provoking post, Diana. This is obviously an issue I need to deal with.

PS - I love the design of your new masthead! :-)

  7. The new masthead is Beautiful Bright and Cheerful, just what we need here in the UK, thankyou!

To beleive in ourselves, quite thought provoking actually because I think sometimes we tend to go with the flow instead of thinking about how we feel etc
Yeah I am going to believe in myself.
I think I will print a few various BELEIVE signs off and stick them here and there around my home i.e. fridge, mirror, computer area, on the back of doors, the bathroom door would be a good place so when I shut it I will see it and it will remind me to start my day BELIEVING IN MYSELF!!

    Hugs x

So now I'm going to get on my soapbox real quick - girl, you have done amazing things - really, you ROCK.....I agree with the hubby - you gotta believe in yourself. If you don't believe in yourself for you then do it for me because you truly inspire me everyday!!! You really are an amazing person and I'm so glad that I know a fighter like you!

  16. Your husband is so sweet...does he have a brother?? lol
Anyway, it's fabulous that he believes in you. I know we should all be trying to lose this weight for ourselves but it's good to know that other people believe in us too.
And in answer to your question....I do believe in myself, I do believe I can do this. For the first time ever, despite my many previous diet attempts and despite the fact I still have off days...I really do believe I can do this this time.
Thanks for your post..it reminded me of that fact!
