No more plastic bottles

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope that everyone in the States had a safe holiday weekend and avoided the tornadoes that hit so many parts of the country during the past week. Scary stuff!

That being said, hurricane season nearly here and we’ve started to make our preparations just in case. Preparations include, buying less frozen foods in bulk because if the power goes off, everything in the refrigerator goes to waste. Stock up on ready to eat canned goods and bottled water.

I really struggled with buying the cases of water. If there is a hurricane coming and you wait too long the stores are crazy busy and most of the time sold out of bottled water. On the other hand, if we have no hurricanes I’ve just bought more plastic bottles. I’ve really been making an effort to lessen my footprint on the earth and that includes my use of bottled water. I bought an Ez-Freeze 32 ounce bottle that has a removable freezer stick, I’ve been taking this with me when I need water to go and between the freezer stick and the ice I add, it stays cold a lot longer than bottled water anyhow and it’s reusable. The company lists locations worldwide, I bought this one at CVS. I just love it.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about this year so far. I feel like I haven’t made as much weight loss progress as I’d like. My level of dedication has been less than stellar for a few weeks now due to medical reasons however I feel I’m capable of more; I feel I’m capable of doing better. Now more than ever I need your continued support. I’m hoping all the challenges I’ve set forth for myself this summer keep the fires of motivation burning strong and away from the edge of burnout. It really is a delicate balance but I have a feeling it’s going to be a great summer!

  1. I've got the same feelings about plastic bottles (although I don't have to worry much about hurricanes here... maybe being snowed in for days on end? :)).

If you're not feeling so great just remember about all the progress you've already made and everything that you've got set up to continue your wonderful progress- like all of the fun challenges for the blog party!

  2. Yes.. remember all the progress you have made, and how it would be a waste to let it all go. That's what I told myself this morning when I was feeling the burn out. Remember how great you feel when you are done working out. The high you got when you walked that 5k. I know it's hard sometimes. We are all here to support you through thick and thin!

  3. Oh love the look of those water bottles. The remind me of my Camelbak water bottle. LOVE IT! I used to have one with the ice thingie in it but never remembered to put it in the freezer. LOL

Chin up hon. You are doing GREAT! Remember its not the speed at which you reach your goals its that you reach them. You are making it! One step at a time!

  4. Oh Diana, I'm in the same place - and I know I am capable of losing the weight instead of gaining it.

    Hang in there!

  5. I have been feeling the same with my progress this year. I cant belive its almost June... the halfway mark. But you know we still have a solid 7 months to make a difference! WE can do it!!

  6. I believe in you! Even on those days when we don't always believe in ourselves.

You're doing good things for yourself, even if they're not as great as you would like. Don't you hate that feeling... the "I'm not good enough, I'm not doing enough" feeling...

Sometimes I think it's that feeling that brings us so far down in the first place. It's so easy not to try, since we already know we suck. Right?

    WRONG!

  7. I am in the same slump....I feel like it's so easy to lose weight in the winter, like going to the gym is a pleasure, that taking a walk on a nice day is a treat but when summer comes and it gets hot, I want to stay inside with my air conditioning and watch movies and this should be the easiest time to get out and do something....but we need to keep going!! I do not want to regain the 20 pounds I lost, I want to be done with losing weight, I want to just maintain and I know it's harder but I want something static in my life, not constantly changing....hang in there....

  8. I think we all go through the down times during this journey. Just remember that you have done amazing, wonderful things. Life isn't all about the number on the scale........ackkkk it's hard for me to say that....but it isn't. And reading your post made me remember that because to me, to us - your faithful followers - you are more than a dieter, a healthy eater, an exerciser. You are a friend a confidant, an inspiration, a smile when we want to cry and a reminder that there are amazing people still walking on this earth!

You may not be exactly where you want to be by the scale but don't discount or discredit all that you have accomplished. You have touched so many lives and I am only one of the many! Here is to the best summer of your life!!!

  9. I really like those bottles and will look for one next time I'm in the States.

I know how hard it is to stay focused on the long-term goal but I'm sure you'll be successful with the rest of the year.

I hope that there are no hurricanes for you this summer!

  10. Of course its going to be a great summer.. I think when it comes to accomplishments you are wrong.. lets see.. you COULD NOT have your blogs, You could weigh much more than you do, you could NOT give darn about any food you eat.BUT the fact is you do care.. you are watching yourself and you are exercising.. so my friend You are accomplishing and that is all that matters..

  11. Hi, Diana! Yep, it's going to be a great summer! You'll catch up on the weight loss, soon.

Bottled water is sometimes a necessity and sometimes a LIFESAVER, so don't beat yourself up.

  12. I woudlnt worry about where you "should" be or the focus on the negative. I would focus on what you ahve accomplished, what you have changed. sure there are always things we can work on, but its important to celebrate the accomplishments too.

  13. You've gotta' do what you gotta' do as far as the bottled water. An emergency situation is a perfectly acceptable excuse to have it on hand as far as I'm concerned.

Hang in there as far as the motivation factor goes - we all wax and wane throughout this process. You've certainly been an inspiration to all of us!

  14. I have to say, I don't miss living in Florida... but you're right. If you end up waiting, there will be no water left for you. Trust me, been there, done that. Stock up, and then drink. It's totally understandable.

I bought one of those bottles too, although I got mine at Walmart. It's perfect for the gym!

  15. I feel the same about plastic bottles but unfortunately I have the most horrid water in Florida. I cannot drink from the tap even with a filter. It saddens me. Then on top of it, I read an article that these plastic refillable bottles that we use, are bad for us too *sigh. In the interest of conserving, I do buy water by the gallon and reuse the gallon jugs :).

Diana, you have made great progress. We still need to get together soon for those walks, even if it is a short walk.

  16. Diana, it looks like it is now our turn to pick you up. Day to day with your kind words, dedication to blogland, and help with EVERYTHING, you lift us up and support us. It's the least we can do to try and boost you up when you need it.

First of all you, CC, and FB were the whole reason I even started blogging. I related so much to the 3 of you and your struggles, triumphs, lives that I was comforted to find amazing, inspiring women that I could relate to.

Sure the scale isn't moving, but last year would you have been able to walk 5K? No way lady! Last year would you have gotten to the top of that tower by the beach you and Ken walked to? Nope! You are doing awesome!

A little bump in journey makes it worth talking about when you get to your goal. If this was gonna be easy, we would have started it LOOONG ago. It's hard, but with the right support you can do it! :) We all love ya chica, hang in there.

  17. You have done an AMAZING job. You have done so much to support so many people, while still continually increasing your fitness and decreasing your weight. I know that no matter how much/fast you lose, it's never quite enough for that voice in your head, but this IS a marathon, not a sprint. We will all get there when we get there. The most important part is what we learn along the course.

You are an amazing lady. Pat yourself on the back and give yourself a big 'Woohoo' for the progress you've made to date.

  18. Try to remember that you're doing all this as a way to treat yourself with love and respect. That's a very different attitude than HAVING to do it, or feeling deprived, etc.

You've got my love and support, 24/7, Diana.

  19. Earlier this year I went from going through at least a case of 16.9oz bottles to using a Brita and a water bottle, and I couldn't be happier. Not only am I saving money on all that water, but I'm helping the environment -- it's a win-win.

Try not to get discouraged. You are such a motivator to so many people, so it's good that we can be there to help support you when you need it. This slump will pass, I'm sure of it.
