Healthy You Challenge Check In Week 6, 2010

Valentines Day is just around the corner...Sunday. The commercial love to hate love to love oh for the love of love holiday and did I mention there would be candy too? People wanting to give me free samples of GODIVA no less. Why didn't this happen way back when I ate everything in sight? I graciously accepted a sample and brought it home and gave it to Ken who is quite happy to benefit from my avoiding temptation.

Anyhow, stay strong my dear friends and we'll get through this week without the candy! So how are you celebrating or NOT celebrating Valentines Day?

I am going out to dinner with my boyfriend and I already have it all planned out to get the grilled salmon, no dessert or appetizer, and a light beer or red wine (only 1). I sure hope he doesn't buy me candy, if so i will give it to my roommates!

Valentine's Day is THIS week? Yikes. Was not ready.

We'll exchange cards & a token gift. No candy! I might buy a few chocolates for the teenager in the house.

Yes, I know! I have to give it my all to stay away from the heart shaped boxes of chocolate at the store! I've been trying to think of a healthy way to spend Valentines day...hopefully I'll think of it soon! ;)

Dark chocolate is a MUFA - a healthy fat. So I'm going to enjoy a lovely box of Dove dark chocolate truffles and give the white chocolate ones to my daughter. :-)

We are also going out to dinner at Carrabba's with some friends. They have a wonderful salad that I had last time we went there.

I had a big loss this week, but in a very bad, violent way that is probably temporary. :-P

I'm down 4.2 pounds - exactly! - again this week and am fired up and ready to do even better going forward.

For Valentine's Day, the hubby and I will be working at the local high school lacrosse tournament where my biggest challenge will be staying away from the hot dogs and cheesy, cheesy nachos.

Weight is staying pretty constant, trying to work on my fitness and running my first 5K.

Valentine's Day AND Girl Scout Cookies are in. Gah! I got guilted into buying some at work. Good thing I'm a teacher, maybe I can give them to the kids as a special treat :)
So, 2010 is off to a roller coaster-y start. Since I remembered to check in here last I had 2 fabulous weeks, then a disappointing weigh-in followed by a week-long binge...like that's gonna help?! I talked to my counselor about it last night and he made a really interesting binging to cutting analogy. As in - comparing binging to self-mutilation. Interesting...I'll try to post about it later.

I had a .4 loss this week. I guess I'm going to be one of those that get the small losses and then one week- BAM! big loss, then back to little losses again.
Oh well, as long as I'm getting smaller....

Well, since we're broke (or practicing being... lol), Valentine's Day will be a low-key affair at Casa de Jeebs. Of course, the benefit to not being able to afford to go out is that I have TOTAL control over the menu! :)

My 8th Wedding Anniversary is on Tuesday and Valentine's Day is my daughters adoption anniversary. I don't really have anything special planned food wise and will probably get cards/gifts for the kids. Honey and I have already exchanged presents early. Oh yeah and there will be the "obligatory" adult cuddle time and that burns extra calories so that will be a plus. It ought to be a great weekend on the weight loss/fitness front!

Completely forgot about VD. At least I'm off this weekend so I don't have to deal with candy at work. I can avoid that temptation.

I'm down 2 lbs. for a total of 12 pounds lost! I love chocolate so V-Day is a hard one, but I won't be expecting to receive any chocolate this year since those I love know of my new journey.
